About this rooftop tent
Tested in the rigours of the Australian Outback, Scott is a large premium softshell tent made by Sheepie in Australia. It is made of lightweight aluminium with a waterproof fabric cover. When you are travelling, the tent folds up and is protected by a durable travel cover.
This tent has plenty of sleeping space for 3 people. You might find it comfortable for 4 if at least one of them is a small child.
Scott has a large zipped entrance for easy access and there are zipped windows on the other three sides. The entrance and all the windows have a zippable mesh screen to keep insects at bay. You can have the entrance and windows fully open, you can close the mesh screen to let fresh air in and keep the bugs out, or you can zip them all fully closed for privacy.
Inside there is a built-in mattress to give you a comfy night’s sleep. It has an anti-condensation mat below to aid air ventilation. We supply an elasticated mattress protector and a top sheet for the mattress. You can then either bring your own bedding or sleeping bags, or you can hire a duvet & pillows from us. Just remember to take anything really bulky out of the tent before you fold it away.
This is an instruction video for Scott. It shows you how you can set up and collapse the tent in just a few minutes.
Setting up & packing away
At our barn in Hawkshead, we fit the rooftop tent to your vehicle for you at the start of your hire, and we remove it at the end of your hire. If you do not have roofbars, that’s not a problem. We can hire you a suitable set of Thule roofbars that will work with most vehicles – just fill out the enquiry form below and we will check what you need.
A big advantage of rootop tents is how quick they are to pitch. Scott can be set up by one person in under 5 minutes from arrival at your chosen spot to being ready to sleep in. It is just as quick to fold away.
You get access to the tent using the included telescopic aluminium ladder. We’ll demonstrate how to easily and quickly adjust the ladder’s length to match your vehicle’s height. The ladder will work with any car that’s up to 2.3 metres from ground to roobar level. When the tent is not in use, the ladder collapses down on top of the tent and it stows away under the travel cover.
Roof tent specifications
The outer fly sheet is a ripstop polyester-oxford fabric. This gives a great combination of breathability with water resistance.
The inner lining of the tent is made from ripstop polycotton. This material gives you the breathability and insulation of a traditional cotton canvas tent, reducing condensation. It also has the light construction and easy drying of polyester.
The sleeping area is 250cm x 160cm. On your roof, the tent is 174cm long and 132cm wide. When closed, the tent is 38cm high. When opened, it is 130cm high. The tent weighs 61kg with its integrated ladder.

Awning Plus
Scott’s Awning Plus is an optional extra which you can add to your hire. It attaches to the porch of the tent and you can set it up in two ways.
If you set it up over the tent’s ladder (the picture on the left), it gives you some extra privacy. It also provides a sheltered area for outdoor storage.
If you set it up with the supplied poles (the picture on the right), it gives you a large shelter to keep showers off or to provide some shade.
The Awning Plus is available for an extra £5 per night with discounts for longer hires.
Thermal Liner
Scott’s thermal liner is an optional extra which you can add to your hire. It is a quilted breathable liner which helps to keep the tent a little bit warmer in the colder months. It has zipped openings for all the tent’s windows.
The thermal liner is available for an extra £5 per night with discounts for longer hires.
